JiJi grew up in PA, raised by her father, and was a ballerina since she was three years old. During her teens and early 20's, she experimented with other styles of dance, such as latin and various ballroom styles.
She fell in love with the art of bellydance in 2009; when she and her best friend, a native Egyptian, enjoyed bellydancing together informally.
When JiJi moved south to NC in 2010, she felt compelled to continue learning and perfecting her skills, so she sought out the top instructors in the area to study under. She learned from masters such as Sharifa Asmar and Amara Al Amir.
JiJi continued to learn and develop her skills with several instructors, until March of 2012, then began to perform on her own. She was also a performing member of Tapestry Dance Theater/World Artist Productions for two years. JiJi teaches private and group lessons, and performs in restaurants, night clubs, festivals, weddings, parties and celebrations.
Some of her stage performances have been at Artsplosure and NC Museum of Art with The Paco Band, International Festival, World Refugee Day Celebration, Body Mind Spirit Expo, and Shady Grove Music Festival. Some of the North Carolina venues she has performed at include Mosaic Wine Lounge, Kipos, Argana, Empress Room with The Paco Band, and Troy Mezze Turkish Restaurant.
